Sad news...

My family got some pretty sad news last night. Late yesterday evening Amber's youngest son, Reiss age 2.5, was diagnosed with Leukemia. He has been so sick for the last month with various infections and illnesses.  Amber has taken him to the doctor multiple times in the last few weeks for ear infections, strep throat, fevers, etc.  They finally hospitalized him in Price yesterday afternoon for what they thought was a vascular infection.  Upon further testing and blood work he was immediately transfered to Primary Children's Hospital in SLC.  The doctors there confirmed he does have cancer, most likely Leukemia. He is severely anemic and has already received 2 bags of blood transfusions and platelets in order to stabilize him.  They will do a bone marrow test, as well as a spinal tap  to figure out the type of Leukemia and the course of treatments.  Doctors have told them to expect a three year treatment of chemotherapy. The first year being very intense.  We will know more once they get those results back. Hopefully by Monday. It is going to be a long, hard road for them and their family. Reiss is a darling little boy with bleach blond hair and a darling smile.  He loves tractors, and trucks. We lovingly call him Reissy boy.  

Please keep my little nephew in your prayers, as well as Amber and Kenny. We are so heartbroken and devastated. We love him so much. It seems so unfair that children so young have to endure such hard and painful illnesses.  We are praying for a positive prognosis as well as comfort for him and his family.  

It is hard for me to be so far away. I feel so helpless.  I wish I could help with Amber's other kids, offer support, bring them dinner, and hug my crying sister.  When tragedy hits, you just want to be near your loved ones.  

Hold your little ones a little closer, I know I am.
