Quick turn of events last night. Reiss's arm looked really swollen....his whole body is swollen (lol), but his picc arm was WAY bigger than the other. They went to the ER in Price to check and see why and found out He has a blood clot in his arm. It basically goes from his elbow to his shoulder and wraps along/around the picc line. :( The doctors in Price were ready to send them to PCMC, but they called oncology at Primary's, and they put him on blood thinners, which is a shot in his tummy, every 12 hours. He will have to get these shots for 6-8 weeks. Amber will give them to him at home. Tomorrow, when they go to Primary's for his chemo, they will remove the picc line in his arm and administer the chemo through a new IV. The following Monday (March 11) they will put the port in his chest. However he will continue to receive the blood thinner (shot in his tummy) for the duration of 6-8 weeks. Doctors said this is very common, but it is still a bummer. Poor Kenny felt so helpless, and it was so hard for him to be away when they thought they were going to transfer Reiss to Primary's. Hard for daddy to be away from his family and little boy. Hang in there Kenny.
