Phase 2

A little nervous about the "straw" still connected to his port.
This is so his nurse can access it at home. 

Today, Reiss started phase two of his treatment. His ANC (infection fighting cells) were a bit lower than they like to see to go forward with chemo, (700 instead of 750) but Dr. Lemons decided to go ahead with treatment because they had to skip last week (due to the virus he was fighting).  He received FOUR kinds of chemo today. He got a lumbar puncture (chemo in the spine), and will continue to get those for the next 3 weeks.  He also received two kinds of chemo through his port, as well as an ORAL dose in the evening.  He was such a brave and good boy! The doctors and nurses are  in awe that he still has his hair! They said that patients usually lose it much sooner! He must have good hair genes.... which we know didn't come from Kenny!! :) (Love you Kenny!) However, this next course of chemo will definitely start the hair loss process.

He is getting such high doses of chemo that they expect his ANC to drop even lower this next week. Please keep him in your prayers that he will stay healthy and fever free! They also kept his port accessed and he will receive chemo through his port (administered by their home health nurse Melissa), and Amber will be giving him ORAL doses of chemo every day of the week from home! It is crazy how much poison these little kids can tolerate. He needs lots of prayers this week.

Amber said he has lost about 6-7 pounds, just from being off the steroid, but the remaining weight is hanging out in his cheeks!! :) 

Been waiting a long time to get a CHEESE like this!!  

This next picture cracks me up!! It made me laugh out loud when I saw it! I'm pretty sure Reiss wasn't thrilled about getting his picture taken! But Amiah and Tayger look pretty strong with those muscles!
