The biggest news of this week is that Reiss is POTTY TRAINED!!!
Hooray!!
It's actually a funny story! Amber had been putting off potty training because of everything that is going on in his life (understandably). Not to mention, the frequent hospital stays this phase requires. She knew he was ready, but didn't want to push him to potty train, only to have him regress when they went to the hospital. So, this is how it went down. They were at the park one day, and Reiss pooped. Amber had wipes (thankfully), but didn't have another diaper. So she just put his pants on and told him not to pee his pants! They had a fun time at the park and went home a little while later. Amber forgot he didn't have a diaper on, and a few hours later Reiss starting panicking and saying... "Mom! I need a diaper!! I have to pee!" So Amber put him on the toilet. But he wouldn't go and Amber couldn't figure out why! Finally, Reiss told her, "I don't want you to CHEER for me!" So, Amber turned around (so she wasn't facing him), and held back her cheers of happiness when that little boy went on the toilet for the first time! Little Stinker!! He continued to demand, "Don't cheer for me!" every time he went to the bathroom! By the time he went to the hospital again he was doing great, and CONTINUED to do great throughout his stay! Such a big boy!! Just don't cheer for him!
His reward for potty training! Forget the cheers and praise, bring on the TRACTORS!! |

The side effects from the methotrexate (chemo) have gotten a little better each time. His body has learned it needs to flush out the chemo, and every week seems to be a little easier and faster. So grateful for the wonderful nurses and doctors taking care of Reiss and his family.
