Yesterday went much better than last time. First of all he didn't have to get a LP (lumbar puncture). He was excited to go to the playroom and didn't have much anxiety. He asked Amber, in the parking lot, if he had to get a shot. When she reassured him that he didn't he calmed down. They got him admitted right away and started pushing fluids. His ph levels must be at a certain level before they can administer the methotrexate (chemo). They started the drip of metho around 3:00pm. So far there hasn't been any side effects. They are keeping a watch for blisters on his feet... they showed up on day 3 (Wednesday) last time, but we are hoping and praying they don't return! Still hoping for an early afternoon discharge on Thursday.
They have a different view this time, but trucks and tractors still the same! Lots of time is spent in front of this window!

One little hiccup to note: Reiss has been on some eye drops for pink eye. When a child is admitted to PCMC their meds must all go through the pharmacy at the hospital so that the nurses and doctors are aware of the meds they are taking previous to being admitted, and so they can monitor doses etc. So Amber had to get a NEW prescription from PCMC for his eye drops when they got there. After giving him his new prescription a couple times his eyes got swollen and puffy and he was complaining that they hurt. Worried it was a side effect from the chemo Amber called the nurse in. The nurse did some research and come to find out the pharmacy (at PCMC) had filled his prescription with EAR DROPS instead of EYE drops! Poor little guy was getting ear drops in his eyes! No wonder that hurt! Yikes! Amber felt so bad, but of course there was no way for her to know. Just grateful it wasn't life threatening or damaging to his vision.
Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes! They are almost half way done with this phase! Hooray!
